Privacy policy

TechAuto 06 cares about the protection of your personal data. This page explains what information we collect through the website and for our services, why, how long we keep it and what your rights are.

Data controller

Data we collect

We only collect data that you send us voluntarily, or that is needed for the website to work:

• Website forms (contact, estimator, quote request): name, phone and/or e-mail, vehicle, message;
• Chat assistant: the text of your messages (600 characters at most per message), and the licence plate if you enter one;
• Quotes and services: identity and contact details, vehicle data (including the serial number and registration read on the vehicle registration document), technical work data, billing data;
• Key services: a copy of the vehicle registration document and of an ID document (or a power of attorney), when you send them online;
• Technical data: IP address and date/time of the request or visit (security, abuse and spam prevention).

No data is collected without your knowledge: the website uses no advertising cookies and no audience-measurement tools (see “Cookies” below).

Chat assistant

• Where it runs: the assistant is an artificial-intelligence model run on a server that we operate ourselves. Your messages are not sent to any third-party AI provider.
• What is stored: the website server does not record your messages or the assistant’s replies. Only the number of messages per IP address over one minute is counted in memory to limit abuse; this counter is not written to any disk.
• What happens to your messages: they are used only to generate the reply shown to you; they are not used for any other purpose or to train a model.
• Licence plate: if your message contains a plate, or if you enter it in the estimator, the plate (and nothing else) is sent to a plate-lookup service reached through the RapidAPI platform, to identify make, model and engine. Your name, contact details and the content of your message are not sent to it. Our website does not keep the plate.
• If you leave your contact details in the assistant or in a form, they follow the rules in the “Contact and quote requests” section below. The assistant’s replies are generated automatically: they are indicative and do not replace a quote.

Contact and quote requests

Requests sent through the website forms (name, phone, e-mail, vehicle, message, IP address, date and time) are recorded on our hosting server, then notified to us on a self-hosted notification server and by e-mail (mailbox hosted at OVH). They are used to reply to you and to prepare a quote. Legal basis: pre-contractual steps taken at your request (GDPR art. 6(1)(b)). If the quote is accepted, quote and service data follow the “Services and invoicing” rules below.

Services and invoicing

• Performance of the contract and handling of complaints (identity, contact details, vehicle data, technical work data, original ECU file) — legal basis: performance of the contract (art. 6(1)(b)) — retention: 5 years.
• Accounting and tax obligations (accounting records, billing data) — legal basis: legal obligation (art. 6(1)(c)) — retention: 10 years.
• Register of work on keys and ECUs (traceability and theft prevention) — legal basis: legitimate interest (art. 6(1)(f)) — retention: 5 years.

These periods are those of our general terms of sale (art. 14), which are in French.

ID documents and registration documents (keys)

Making or programming a key requires checking that you are the vehicle’s holder: a registration document and an ID document in your name (or a written power of attorney with these documents). Legal basis: legitimate interest of TechAuto 06 and of the vehicle holder (art. 6(1)(f)), to prevent handling of stolen goods and fraudulent key making.

• In person: documents are checked on site and are not copied.
• Online submission (secure page of your quote): documents are encrypted before being stored (AES-256-GCM) and protected in transit. They can only be accessed by TechAuto 06 and, where applicable, by its hosting provider acting as a processor.
• Retention: documents are deleted as soon as the check is done, and at the latest 30 days after the decision on the quote (acceptance or refusal) or, if no decision is made, 30 days after the quote expires. Backups are purged on their own cycle, within 35 days at the latest.
• What remains: a record of the check (document type, issuing authority, holder’s name, match found with the registration document, date and author of the check), without the document itself, kept for 5 years in the work register.
• Exception: if the check reveals a mismatch or a serious ground for suspicion, the documents are kept in a restricted-access area for one year from the finding; in case of a complaint or a requisition, until the final decision, for no more than six years. You are told about it, together with the reason.

Technical logs

Our web server keeps an access log (IP address, date and time, requested address, browser type) to measure traffic, spot bots and keep the website secure. Legal basis: legitimate interest (art. 6(1)(f)). These logs are kept for 720 hours (30 days) at most, then deleted. They do not contain the text of your messages.

Recipients and processors

Your data is processed by TechAuto06. It is not sold, rented or passed on to third parties for commercial purposes. The providers involved in processing it are:

• OVH SAS (hosting of the website and of our servers, mailbox), 2 rue Kellermann, 59100 Roubaix, France;
• RapidAPI (API platform through which licence-plate lookup goes): it only receives the plate entered;
• a self-hosted notification server and a self-hosted AI server, which we operate ourselves.

Apart from the plate lookup above, none of your data is sent to a third-party provider.

Retention periods

• Contact and quote requests received through the website: 3 years from receipt of the request, then deleted by a daily purge; a daily backup copy is kept for 30 days;
• Chat assistant messages: not kept;
• Work file and original file: 5 years; accounting records: 10 years; work register and verification record: 5 years;
• Copies of documents sent online: see the dedicated section (30 days at most after the decision on the quote, except in the case above);
• Access logs: 720 hours.

A longer legal retention obligation may apply (for example accounting records linked to a service).

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability of your data. To exercise them, write to contact@techauto06.fr (proof of identity may be requested).

You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL (the French data protection authority): www.cnil.fr.

Cookies and local storage

The website uses no audience-measurement, advertising or tracking cookies requiring consent. Only strictly functional local storage in your browser is used: the language you chose and the last vehicle selected in the estimator. It does not leave your device and needs no consent banner.
